There Is No Beauty...

Are you one of the "beautiful people" in society today? Should we look to the various forms of social media to determine those we consider "beautiful" and "worship" with our time and attention?

I work with young women in our church and frequently confront the belief that if we aren't considered beautiful by the world's standards, then we will not be desirable to others. This must delight the Father of Lies who wants us all to be miserable like himself.

Do you think the Son of God would be beautiful? He certainly could be if God wanted him to be. His mother was "most beautiful, and fair" but we find this description of Jesus in the Book of Mormon:

He hath no form nor comeliness;
and when we shall see him
there is no beauty
that we should desire him.
                                                                        (Mosiah 14:2)

Jesus was NOT desirable for his looks or any "form" of power, wealth or beauty that would draw attention or adoration or esteem and yet was surrounded by throngs during his mortal ministry who recognized their shepherd when He called. Before we came to earth, Christ's name was determined to be the ONLY name on earth offering salvation to all mankind.  "There is none other name under heaven given whereby we may be saved." (Act 4:12) Yet the Mortal Messiah willingly lived so modestly, even as a person "of no reputation." (Philip 2:7)

Elder Carlos Amado said this of Jesus Christ, "He never received honors, favors, recognition, nor preferred treatment from the political leaders of the earth or from the religious leaders of His day. Neither did He sit in the highest seats of the synagogues." … "We are indebted to Him and to our Heavenly Father because His sacrifice blessed everyone, from Adam, the first, to the last of all human beings." This song is one of my favorites! There have been times when I truly couldn't find words to express my feelings. One day this song came on just as I was thinking that I didn't know what to say. I've loved it ever since! "When you don't know what to say, just say Jesus."

"JUST SAY JESUS" - 7eventh Time Down

Mosiah 3-12  He is adespised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he has aborne our bgriefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was awounded for our btransgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are chealed.
All we, like asheep, have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquities of us all.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he aopened not his mouth; he is brought as a blamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb so he opened not his mouth.
He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgressions of my people was he stricken.
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the arich in his death; because he had done no bevil, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to abruise him; he hath put him to grief; when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin he shall see his bseed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied; by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall abear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the agreat, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death; and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sins of many, and made cintercession for the transgressors.
