Agency
I am fascinated with the word "harrow" and always mark it in my scripture reading. This is a picture of a harrow. You can see the spine of spokes and how effective they would be if you pulled them over smooth farmland.
Alma 29:4 This scripture was interesting to read this morning and I had to ponder it a bit to grasp what it was actually saying. This would be my paraphrase:
It's not a good idea to let my selfish desires dig up, cut up and ruin the divine plan.
Our choices form our life and the danger is that we actually get what we want. Our desires can ruin the beautiful pattern He has for us unless they are the same as His desires are for us. Exercising my agency and directing my life according to my will brings inevitable consequences set up by a fair and loving Heavenly Father and the most tragic of events would be for me to choose "destruction" by small and simple unrighteous acts. When we align our will with HIS will our lives will be the most beautiful and spiritually successful lives we could possibly achieve.
